If you thought ‘Fool’s Gold’ was bad…
Cast: Gerard Butler, Jennifer Aniston, Gio Perez, Joel Garland & Jason Sudeikis
Directed by: Andy Tennant
Screenplay by: Sarah Thorp
Plot:
A bounty hunter (Butler) gets more than he bargained for when taking on his latest job that sees him hunting down his ex-wife (Aniston) after she bails on a court hearing after getting herself involved in a possible murder cover-up.
Verdict:
After the dismal romantic comedies, P.S. I Love You and The Ugly Truth; Gerard Butler makes it a hat-trick not worth shouting about with The Bounty Hunter. This rom-action-com moves along at a snails pace towards it’s obvious conclusion. Along the way we are forced to watch gags that have been done a thousand times before as well as a barrage of rom-com cliches.
Butler displays zero charm and Aniston is just her usual self, seemingly playing the same character every time she is on screen. There is no decent chemistry between our duo either as they unconvincingly bicker, fight and eventually fall for each other. It doesn’t get any better when it comes to supporting characters with the likes of Jason Sudeikis – a Saturday Night Live regular – blatantly cast to provide comic relief but utterly failing to score any laughs whatsoever. Avoid this car-crash of a movie at all costs.
