This is the second film based on the Twilight series written by Stephenie Meyer. Twilight caused a huge frenzy between every pre teen in the country to every soccer mom. Twilight left everyone hungry for the sequel, and sure enough, New moon was twice as big. This one had the same basic cast, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), and Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). But one thing that did change was the director. I’m sure some of you would agree with me when I say that Catherine Hardwicke didn’t do a very good job with twilight. So I am very glad that New Moon ended up in Chris Weitz’s hands. He did a spectacular job.

New Moon continues with Bella (Stewart) and Edward’s (Pattinson) romance, but instead of it being perfect, it goes downhill. After an accident on Bella’s birthday Edward decides to step out of Bella’s life forever, so she can be safe. Bella soon finds that the only way to deal with her broken heart is to start living on the edge, and be dangerous. Jacob Black (Lautner) decides to take charge and try and get closer to Bella. Unfortunately, he soon has to start pulling away from her, and Bella doesn’t understand why.

I will admit, I am not a fan of the first movie. Twilight was ruined for me in a number of ways, so I wasn’t expecting anything more in New Moon. I ended up being surprised. The movie had a great story line, it followed the book almost perfectly. Also the werewolves were truly amazing. I was very impressed by how well they fit my vision. But I still had the same problem I had with the first movie, the acting was horrible. Edward and Bella have absolutely no chemistry and in no way do I feel that they are madly in love. I feel as if they are reading off of cue cards throughout the whole movie. Despite Taylor Lautner’s Disney Channel acting, I do give him credit because he did a much better job than Pattinson and Stewart. The main thing that ruins this movie as well as Twilight, is the lack of acting skills Stewart and Pattinson have. Otherwise I was very impressed by how well the movie turned out. The Volturi were no less than amazing, and only if Edward and Bella could be as good. I do recommend watching it, just be prepared for nothing more than soap opera acting between Edward and Bella.
