Review – An enthralling, masterful, and near-perfect film. Daniel Day-Lewis gives one of the decade’s best performances playing a many-layered character that can be at one moment curiously likable and at another moment hatable. Paul Dano and the rest of the cast also deliver knockout performances. The script is dark, the direction is imaginative, and the cinematography is brilliant. Hauntingly created, this film seems to pull you into a strange world with a mixed bag of different sights and emotions. There are only two reasons why it doesn’t get ****: the music score is fit but sometimes overplayed and the film has a couple of slow spots.
