Alvin and the Chipmunks, a Mr. E Movie Review
(Run time: 91 min. – Directed by: Tim Hill – Starring: Jason Lee, David Cross)
If family fun is what your looking for then look no further than the classic turned mixed live animation Alvin and the Chipmunks. This comedy filled with toe tapping tunes is perfect for the whole family.
When failing songwriter Dave Seville, played by Jason Lee, falls flat on his face with his last song he thinks his life is over. Add in the fact that his love life’s nonexistent and you’ve got a guy who’s really down on his luck. But, when by accident, he meets three talented, singing chipmunks everything changes.
Alvin, Simon, and Theodore start singing Dave’s songs and confusing his life. Especially his love life. Then, when a crooked music producer gets wind of the chipmunks talents he can’t help but to try to exploit them to the bitter end. Will Dave choose to let his new found family be taken from him through all the glitz and glam or will he fight to keep them all together?
Jason Lee does a good enough job as the quirky Dave Seville while the obvious stars Alvin and the Chipmunks, now computer generated, are integrated into the film perfectly. Everyone is funny and the story flows great.
The kids will watch this one again and again!
Alvin and the Chipmunks is a definite recommend for anyone looking to spend an hour and a half with their favorite youngster in a way that is not only nostalgic for you but captivating for them. Can’t wait for the Squeek-ual!
