This film notorious due to the fact that it is often considered to have the title of “worst movie of all time”. With 1959’s “Plan 9 from Outer Space” we get truly remarkable experience in the history of celluloid that needs to be seen. Everything about this movie is wrong. But it is so enjoyably bad, you can’t help but laugh along with what’s happening on the screen. Especially considering how terrible the production for this movie is. However, it’s so laughable, one can’t help but enjoy the utter stupidity. “Plan 9 from Outer Space” maybe one of the worst movies of all time, but it’s sure one of the funniest.
The plot is that is that aliens are trying to convince the human race that they will ultimately destroy themselves with a bomb made of solar energy, but the humans don’t listen so the aliens resurrect the dead. Yeah, like that will ever work…
“Plan 9 from Outer Space” is so bad it’s good. Everything from the acting to the production design is so awful, you can’t help but burst out laughing. The writing is bad as the plot makes little to no sense; even the dialogue is terrible, you just have to listen for yourself. Edward D. Wood Jr. who directed, produced and wrote this wonderful little film, is considered the worst director of all time, and this is his cinematic masterpiece. The editing is sloppy is sloppy as shots get repeated numerous times, there is various amounts of stock footage, and a whole lot of continuity errors. The acting is so atrocious as the actors cannot act for the life of them. Even Bela Lugosi, who died during production and was replaced with a chiropractor, is reduced to a simple cameo! The special effects are beyond lazy; you can see the strings holding the “flying saucers” which look a lot like either paper plates or hubcaps to a car. What can I say? You need to see this film for yourself.
In conclusion, “Plan 9 from Outer Space” is a ridiculous, stupid, and hilarious bad movie that needs everyone in the world to see just how ridiculous one production can ultimately turn out.
