Ok so this indie (indian too?) movie with not so famous actors like Dev Patel, Anil Kapoor, and Freida Pinto, was pretty good I must admit. Despite the fact that it was good, I take into consideration the rate that the hype is going at. For this movie there was a HUGE hype, and for that my rating goes down a little.

This movie is all about a young man playing “Who Want’s to be a Millionaire,” except it’s not the one from the US that we have all seen, it’s an Indian version. That is pretty much the whole story without giving away the ending, lol. Of course there are all the memories that this kid has. That is the wonderful part of the movie, the story telling.

The movie has 2 tenses through out the whole film. It has two past tenses and one present tense. It shows how he knows the answers of each of the questions. It is great the way that they incorporate the past with the present, but it got a little old a little too fast for me. There were so many questions, and I believe that for only two or three out of the lot, there weren’t flash backs. For the rest of them there were flash backs.

If this story was told all in the present, it would have just been like another episode of who wants to be a millionaire except the game host was anoying and funny at the same time (“who wants to be a milonare” haha). The idea is very ingenius, and very new. “Lets make a movie about someone who wins that game show about winning a million…” it sounds like a failure, which is why I think this movie is very good, considering the budget. That is one big thing to take into consdieration; this movie had a low budget, but people forgot to mention that when they told me that it was the best movie ever. When someone tells me that a movie is the best ever, I immediately consider who is telling me this, and what does he think of other really good movies. Most people were like “OMG, this is the best thing ever!” But they have to consider other movies that it competed with that year, ie The Dark Knight, which made a lot more money that this one.

So taking in consideration that this was a low budget movie I would give it a 4.5/5, but I shouldn’t consider this, only to be fair with all the other movies. Also I take into consideration the HUGE hype it got, but again, I will try to be fair, and prettend I didn’t hear everyone and their mom’s talking about this movie. All in all, this is a pretty good movie, a little over stretched, and a little too hyped up, it was a good movie. I give it a 3/5. It was not the best thing ever, it was not better than the Dark Knight, it was not even better then Get Smart (of course YOU have to consider the types of movies I like), and so I think a 3 is fair.
