Steven Soderbergh calling it quits? That is what Soderbergh stated in 2011. Scott Z Burns collaborates once again and conjures up in my opinion a decent motion picture which is worth the time and most certainly the better production with comparison to the duos previous attempt in 2011 with CONTAGION. If this be the last movie ever to be done by Soderbergh this is a good exit. An entertaining thriller which keeps changing its direction the moment you predict the next step. Happy predicting readers!
Soderbergh as always has his trademark imprint of superstar royalty all over the motion picture. As always Soderbergh turns to Channing Tatum (as he has in the recent past) and renews his ties with Jude Law and Catherine Zeta Jones whilst building new bridges with Rooney Mara (THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATOO).
It would not be incorrect if I state that this could be the first pharma-logical (making up words as I go) to be done which does not bore the audience to death. Fans of Soderbergh will simply savor the works whilst those new to this genre and also to his work will simply look at each other’s faces as the plot keeps unwinding only to wind up again. Something new and something different, this is always good for the regular enthusiast.
First frame unfolds with a bloody floor and messed apartment, indefinitely a crime scene unless it’s something else entirely 40 minutes later. Martin (Channing Tatum) is released from prison and his wife Emily (Rooney Mara) who is brilliantly disconnected awaits the grand reunion. Next frame Emily crashes her car as if she is being possessed by an evil spirit which makes her speed into a wall. Dr.Banks (Jude Law) consults Emily and releases her after prescribing some medication. There we go… We have the title SIDE EFFECTS!
Don’t miss out.
