Here is my list of the worst films of the decade:

10. Bad Boys II (2003) – Capitalizing on the success of 1995’s surprise hit Bad Boys seemed like a no-brainer.  Unfortunately, this film lacks what the original had: comedy, which it tries to do but is not funny & the great chase scene towards the end, which it tried to copy on the highway, but it wasn’t the same.  One thing it is though is too long, 2½ hours.

9. Catwoman (2004) – Creating a spin-off for one of the characters from one of the most popular comic books seemed like a great idea.  However, rather than using the latest Catwoman, Michelle Pfeiffer, they used an academy award winner, Halle Berry.  Also, instead of looking like Catwoman, this one looks more like a dominatrix, which killed it.

8. Bewitched (2005) – Instead of being a straight-up remake brought to the big screen like other classic sitcoms, this is about a guy trying to make a show called Bewitched.  Why didn’t they just do a remake instead of toying with the original plot?  Needless to say, this film earned four Razzies, including Worst Screenplay.

7. Jason X (2002) – For the 10th installment of the Friday the 13th saga, this one sees Jason Voorhees not in Camp Crystal Lake, but in the future, 2010?!  Exactly, how the hell did Jason get to the future?  I liked the other eight because at least each sequel explained how he came back to life after being killed off previously.  This one is the worst of the series.

6. Ready to Rumble (2000) – Although they were pretty much on life support, the folks at World Championship Wrestling decided to make this atrocious film.  The result, everything sucks including, but not limited to: acting, choreography, comedy, & plot.  Unfortunately, I saw this film in the theaters.  I wanted to gouge my own eyes out after.

5. Epic Movie (2007) – When other films like National Lampoon’s Loaded Weapon 1 & Spy Hard poked fun at other films, it was actually funny.  Now, it’s just lame & sad, which basically describes this film.  Even the Scary Movie sequels don’t compare to the original as they have lost their steam.  How many times can you make a film about other films?

4. Dumb & Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd (2003) – Each time the star(s) don’t return for the sequel/prequel, the task of the replacement(s) to fill in those shoes is literally impossible.  Jim Carrey was already an established comedian, which rubbed off on Jeff Daniels.  Finding two guys to attempt to recreate that magic was just not going to happen.

3. Son of the Mask (2005) – If you just saw The Mask & found out about this sequel, you’d think it was about Stanley Ipkis, his wife, Tina, & their son.  Unfortunately, that is not the case.  The main reason why The Mask was so successful was because of the eye-popping special effects.  Without Jim Carrey, this film basically was dead before it even began.

2. Battlefield Earth (2000) – The good news was, in 1994, the film Pulp Fiction resurrected the ailing career of John Travolta.  The bad news was, in 2000, this film almost killed it entirely.  Initially, Travolta had envisioned this film to be like ‘Star Wars’ & had already had a sequel planned.  Unfortunately, this film stank so badly, those plans were nixed.

And the #1 worst film of the decade is:

1. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) – Because of the success of 2007’s Transformers, director Michael Bay brought us this sequel.  Unfortunately, it’s loud, dreadful, confusing, mind numbing, & just like with Bad Boys II, it’s 2½ hours, which is too long.  Stay away from this film at all costs.
