The Lovely Bones starts out a little girl playing with a toy then it skips ahead 12 years. Susie Salmon(Saoirse Ronan) was watching her little brother when he had problems breathing she gets the keys to the car and drives him to the hospital. Susie is only 14 and not a very good driver but it saved her brothers life. As the movie progress Susie is the narrator and telling the story.
Susie is a daddy’s girl and they like to make boats in glass bottles together. Susie also likes to take pictures of everything she even gets a picture of her eventual killer while she is alive. Susie has a crush on this guy and finally one day he comes up to her and starts talking to her and ask her out and she was very excited. He also slips a poem into her book that explains his feelings for her in more detail.
One day when Susie was walking home she cuts thru a old cornfield and see’s a man from her neighborhood names Mr. Harvey(Stanley Tucci). Mr. Harvey ask her if she would like to check out this little club house he built under ground there in middle of the field. Susie is not sure at first but after Mr. Harvey pleads with her she finally agrees to check it out. After few hours and still no Susie her family gets little worried and her father(Mark Wahlberg) decides they better call the police.
The police at first thing she just ran away but after a day or two they find her bloody hat her mother had specially made for her in the corn field. The police question everyone in neighborhood but can’t find any leads. Meanwhile Susie doesn’t cross over she is like stuck between earth and heaven. She tries to help guide her father into finding her body and the killer. The dad eventually gets all Susie’s pictures she had taken developed and something stands out about the picture of Mr. Harvey.
This was an ok movie it had its bright spots and well as its down moments. I would recommend to watch movie though its worth the price of admission i give it a B-.
