The Hangover, a Mr. E Movie Review

(Run time: 100 min. - Directed by: Todd Phillips - Starring: Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha, Mike Tyson)

By looking at the Box Office success, the Golden Globe nomination, and all the rave reviews for The Hangover you’d expect it to be a no-brainer to be as funny as it was hyped to be. Unfortunately it wasn’t. This reviewer even watched it twice to make sure.

When three buddy’s, played by Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Justin Bartha, and the grooms odd, soon to be brother-in-law, played by Zach Galifianakis head to Las Vegas for a bachelors party weekend they’ll never forget that’s just what they do. Waking up with the mother of all hangovers in their destroyed $4,000 a night hotel suite the guys find a tiger in the bathroom, a baby in the closet, one of them is missing a tooth, and one of them is just missing!

The crew if forced to try to piece together what happened so they can find their friend and get back before his wedding!

Everyone did a great job acting as far as that’s concerned. There is even a funny cameo from everyone’s favorite ear-biting champion Mike Tyson. The pace of the movie was on par and didn’t drag anywhere. The storyline was promising and full of surprises meaning the revealing of the “forgotten” events played out entertaining.

What was it about this movie that just didn’t click for me?

Maybe it was because all the real funny jokes were played out in the trailers and so when they were revealed in the movie itself they only got a stale chuckle, if even that. Maybe I should’ve seen it opening weekend instead of waiting so long for it to come to DVD causing it to go stale in my mind? Being born and raised in Vegas maybe I’m just immune to Las Vegas based humor?

I know I wasn’t hung over?

Anyway enough with the excuses. The Hangover was good enough to warrant a recommend for you to see it for yourself so you can come to your own conclusion about it. Then, if you love it, you can come back here and tell me how crazy I am! Or, on the other hand, if you end up feel like I do about The Hangover you can stop back by and maybe help me to realize why I’m so indifferent about this comedy.

So glad you reviewed this one! I was actually glued to the screen when I watched it at home the other day. I thought it was quite hilarious, perhaps my viewing partner had something to do with it - my teenaged Godchild who had watched it twice - so HIS funny parts became MY funny parts too - yeah, he definitely had a big influence! Also, I didn’t see any trailers so I didn’t know what to expect!

I don’t know what’s going on behind the scene but my star ratings keep dropping off my reviews? Just to be clear I gave The Hangover 2.5 out of 5 stars because I didn’t love it or hate it. I was simply stuck somewhere in the middle?

I won’t tell you your crazy… some people just have a different sort of humor - Zack Galifinakis was pretty funny though and Ed Helms killed me! I did think this was pretty funny and original with the whole retracing events… much better then say movies like ‘Superbad’ and ‘American Pie’
      ;(

I thought it was amazing, Mikey boy.

I thought it was quite funny.
      Not the greatest comedy ever,
but I was laughing quite hard.

i also liked the directorial approach and
I appreciate the fact that Bradley Cooper’s character isn’t based on his good looks.
