I just recently went to Vegas with my wife and realized why it is sin city, a city with no boundaries, no restrictions, and no memory!  Seeing it is place where clocks are non-existent and drinks are constantly being served at every corner, its no wonder people can’t remember their trip to the desert where adult Disney World waits.  Such is the case in, The Hangover, a story about a bachelor party gone very wrong, which leaves for some very comedic moments involving boos, stippers, a tiger, oh and Mike Tyson.

Todd Phillips wrote and directed this gem of the summer that stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifinakis, and Justin Bartha as four normal Joe’s heading to Vegas for one last night of drunken debauchery.  Sitting atop Ceaser’s Palace, the boys drink to the groom, and begin to head out for a night on the town, a night they can’t seem to remember the next day.  Upon waking up, they discover that the groom is missing, kind of a big deal for the wedding that is taking place in twenty-four hours.  So begins the piecing of the puzzle to figure out exactly what happened the night it all went wrong and what happened to their friend, whom they desperately need to find.

The cast is great together, but it is Ed Helms as the innocent, freaked out buddy and Zach Galifinakis as the naive, fat, scruffy sidekick that steal the show.  I found myself laughing uncontrollably at points in the movie, as the comedic scenes just kept coming at the audience.  Phillips also wrote and directed Road Trip and Old School but this film has more substance and is grounded in Vegas, which is not the bright lights Vegas Vacation Vegas that people are used to, but rather the real, dirty, desolate, Vegas that escapes films like this one.   The story, which is Phillip’s best is well paced and pieced together in a brilliant way that gives us insight to what happened but never truly reveals the whole story of the drunken night of buffoonery.  Word to the wise: Stay for the credits to get the whole, hilarious story!
