The 2009 film remake of the popular television series “Star Trek” now available on DVD is a galactic success with great story-telling and outstanding special effects. This futuristic sci-fi film, directed by J.J. Abrams, features a great ensemble cast including Chris Pine as Caption James T. Kirk, Zoe Saldana as Nyota Uhura, Eric Bana as the villain Nero, Zachary Quinto as young Spock, and the legendary Leonard Nemoy revisits his roles as Spock from the original television series.

This installment of the “Star Trek” adventures takes audiences to the beginning of the story including the birth of Caption James T. Kirk and how the crew of the Starfleet was assembled.

Some memorable scenes in the movie include a very  young James T. Kirk, about 11 or 12 years old, driving an “antique” corvette that he steals from his stepfather, that leads to a car chase with law enforcement resulting in young Kirk barely escaping from the car before it goes over a cliff. Great special effects really brought this scene to life!  Another great scene takes place in a bar where a young adult James  T. Kirk meets Nyota Uhura for the first time and attempts to flirt with her to no avail.  Equally entertaining was the scene where Kirk meets Doctor “Bones” for the first time, this scene included witty comedic lines.   It was also great to see Tyler Perry in the movie stepping out of his “Madea” role and portraying a member of the Academy Board.  I certainly can’t forget the highly charged scene where Kirk and Lt. Sulu get “beamed up” to the Starfleet just in the nick of time.

The special effects in this film are truly incredible and provide a believable futuristic effect that makes each scene come to life!

The costumes worn by the Starfleet were a perfect reflection of the costumes worn by the original television series Star Trek crew, providing great continuity of characters.

Overall, this movie will please “Trekkies”around the world and will usher in a new fleet of “Trekkies.”  “Live long and prosper!”

i agree, star trek is an unbelievable movie. your review is good, i like the style you started of with. in my opinion it is good to mention actors and their characters, but if you list so many it can drag on and i felt it slipping away from me, so take that onboard if you want. also you describe some scenes instead of describing the plot. all n all not bad keep up the good work.
