By: Michael “Mr. E” Esser

The summer smash hit “The Hangover” has continued to earn at the box office for an outstanding 19 weeks!

Just last week alone the Las Vegas based comedy about 4 buddies who come to Las Vegas for a bachelors weekend, brought in $528,781 domestically. Earnings that are good enough to keep it in the Top 25 current earners according to Variety.

The Hangover has recently surpassed “Wedding Crashers” to become the biggest domestic grossing R-rated comedy ever. Making it WB top grossing comedy ever! Beating out “Beverly Hills Cop”, which grossed $234 million and setting the stage to become the third highest grossing R-rated film ever, behind “The Passion of the Christ” and “The Matrix Reloaded.”

The release of this news has set the stage for Todd Phillips to direct the sequel, “Hangover 2″ which will begin production in October of 2010 and is set to be released Memorial Day weekend 2011.

No word on what the films focus will be on yet.
