Loading ...“Death Proof” stars Kurt Russell, Rosario Dawson, Tracie Thoms, Rose McGowan and Zoe Bell. It is directed by my all-time favorite writer and director Quentin Tarantino, who pays homage to his favorite Cult Classic car chases in his most recent film “Death Proof”.
Kurt Russell plays the role of Stuntman Mike, a psychopath who stalks beautiful women in his so called “death proof” car. After an early encounter with a group of women puts him in the hospital, he recovers and searches for his next victims. In Tennessee, he spots another gang of women who appear to be an easy target. Once Stuntman Mike starts his rage, he soon finds out that he messed with the wrong people.
The film had an unique style of photography to give it that B-rated effect. I really enjoyed the car chase, mainly because it never goes over-the-top and stays within the reality zone. Witty dialog with a Tarantino vibe and the acting was nothing to complain about. Like all of Quentin Tarantino’s movies, he adds a touch of humor along with his high caliber directing.
“Death Proof” has a sizzling sound-track that adds to the movie experience. The “Death Proof” being released on DVD has some added material that makes it thirty minutes longer than the one that was featured in “Grindhouse”. Great stunt work done by Zoe Bell. Note that the missing reels and the fake trailers are absent, which I found disappointing. It tries to redeem itself with an added lap dance, but the missing reel gave it that grindhouse effect.
Overall, “Death Proof” is definitely worth a look, but it should have been distributed as the double feature. This is worthy of a collector’s item that will be a top DVD seller. I would recommend this film to fans of Quentin Tarantino and the Cult Classics of the 70’s and 80’s. Outstanding stunts, great photography, and edge of your seat car chases that will leave you breathless.

Yeah, I saw the original cut that played in Grindhouse and I enjoyed much more than Planet Terror. I love Tarantino but oddly, the dialogue was nowhere near as entertaining as his past films. Then again every single word the character’s spoke seemed so right. They never spoke out of character for a cheap one-liner or something, which I greatly appreciated. I hope to see the new cut soon though. Good review.

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible. Not the review, the review is good its an honest opinion of someone interested in the movie. The movie though was terrible, it was boring and the ending, was hysterical and by hysterical i mean pointless and idiotic. Don’t get me wrong I like Tarantino most of the time. But if you go to a movie solely to hear dialouge then by all means rent every Tarantino movie made. Except this one. The dialouge was terrible and it was so boring and unappealing this movie had no purpose. It had no catagorization, its not a horror, drama, comedy, thriller, it was just boring. I hated that this was made with Planet Terror because Planet terror would of done so much better without it attached…Look at resident evil. Go see Planet terror but avoid Death Proof at all costs, even fans of Tarantino should be disappointed, you dont have to feel obliged to Tarantino to say it was good or anything because it was incredibly dull. The car chase was drawn out and boring and the chain of events in the movie is questionable too. And again I can’t stress how upset I am at the ending. Udder waste of time…I was happy when I saw the credits.

Bored me silly with the pointless dialog…walked on on the theatre version, however rented the Dvd to see the ending…which wasn’t worth sitting through all of the set-up to get to. Sure a lady doing stunts on a car is cool, but not cool enough to carry everything else. Have to enjoy how Q.T. foot fetish is starting to take up more and more time in his films though ha ha
