The Hangover Part 2

I was lucky enough to get into an early showing of The Hangover Part 2, the sequel to the 2009 comedy smash hit, The Hangover, starring Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha and directed by Todd Phillips.

In part 2 of this epic tale, we find Stu (Ed Helms) preparing for his wedding in Thailand. He’s stern with Phil (Bradley Cooper), Alan (Zach Galifianakis), and Doug (Justin Bartha), that he doesn’t want a repeat of their last drunken night in Vegas. But of course, knowing this gang, that doesn’t come true. One drink leads to another and the next thing they know, it’s Vegas all over again.

The one aspect I was not a fan of was how it was the same exact plot outline as the first movie. It started out with Phil calling Doug’s wife telling her they’re in trouble and won’t be able to make it to the wedding. It then flashes back to before that, leads up to them having a drink and proceeds to them waking up the next morning, trying to figure out what happened the night before. I understand the filmmakers reasons for making it so similar to the original, but I wished it would have been at least a little bit different in some way.

The actors once again were phenomenal.  Cooper, Galifianakis, and Helms all are hysterical to watch and work incredibly well together. The comedy in this movie was very much like the comedy in the original. The only difference is it was a bit raunchier and not as quotable as I found the first one to be.

Overall, I thought it was a good movie. I do still believe that the first one was a lot better. But if you’re a fan of the original, then I highly suggest going to see the second installment.
