It is impossible to describe how awesome this movie is, but I must say that to miss out on this is an epic fail. You NEED to see this movie, Mendes' second best (tied with Road to Perdition, though American Beauty is his best). With amazing music from Thomas Newman, this movie delivers on all levels, from the great story and plot to the amazing acting from DiCaprio, somehow (though his later movies are MUCH better in terms of performance or generally, than his earlier ones. SEE THIS MOVIE!

I really adored this movie as well, and after seeing the film, it really made me certain that Sam Mendes is my favorite director. (For a long time, it had been a toss-up between him and Darren Aronofsky.) He has not made a wrong move yet, and this truly is his second best, with American Beauty being his only better work. And for a man with such a small film repetoire, that says a lot. I think a lot of people were put off by the fact that Revolutionary Road was promoted heavily as a reunion of Kate Winslet and Leonardo Dicaprio, rather than banking on Mendes himself, and too many people have gotten sick of Titanic by now, so they chose to ignore this masterwork. And I think that is truly a shame. I agree: this is a MUST see. And it ranks in my top 10, for sure.

Darren Aronofsky is still tied for my favorite director with Tarantino and Christopher Nolan, but Mendes is a close second. I think that people did complete over-do the whole Titanic reunion, though the acting in this movie was EXTREMELY better than the acting in Titanic, and Michael Shannon had his best role in it as the neighbors’ crazy son. He deserved an Oscar for his magnificent performance. I’m glad you liked this movie, and hope to see what other movies you like in your reviews!

:) I agree about Michael Shannon. I totally get why the Academy wanted to award Heath Ledger the posthumous Oscar, as he deserved to win one for his incredible talents, but it was just a huge shame that it ended up shafting Shannon. I am going to watch My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done, soon, and I am so excited about it!! :) I’ll let you know in a review what I think! :)
