Oscar Predictions: 2010 Films

Since lists are my thing, I would like to make an early prediction for the 2010 Oscars. The movies in 2010 look very good and interesting, such as the Cronenbergesque Repo Men, or the riveting crime thriller Brooklyn’s Finest, which actually puts Richard Geere, Ethan Hawke, and Wesley Snipes together. Wow.
Since I am looking forward to so many movies this year, which is actually a shock since I had only looked forward to three movies last year (Avatar, Moon & Inglourious Basterds) and so many turned out to be great, though many sucked something fierce (Transformers 2, Paranormal Activity, Knowing, Miss March, The Unborn and the granddaddy of them all Terminator: Salvation).

Here are my Oscar predictions for 2010:

Best Picture:
Shutter Island
The Rum Diary
Arrested Development
Repo Men

I’ts a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963)

Greed is a trope used in the realm of fiction to be associated with drama, and usually involves some very thematic elements to it. Yet the theme really has not been associated with the genre of comedy. Enter the 1963 film “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World”, a comedy that showcases a lot of […]

St. Vincent (2014)

This movie opens up with our main character telling a very dry joke, which sets up the tone for the rest of the film. “St. Vincent” is a comedy that puts focus on one grumpy old man trying to come to terms with his life. The resulting effort is a gem of originality that has […]

Big Hero 6 (2014)

Ever since Disney purchased Marvel back in 2009, we have gotten a lot of good action/superhero films that have a strong connection to their continuity. However, with today’s feature, Marvel and Disney are branching out and creating something completely different. The finalized product is the motion picture for today “Big Hero 6” based off Marvel’s […]

  1. I really messed this list up, of course I did it before any of the movies came out.

  2. No probs man thats why it is a prediction list right and like you said you made the list early.

  3. yeah, but I should have thought it over. I knew they were going to screw up Shutter Island, so why didn’t I stick with Inception, and why are almost ALL of the nominees just like not even good? Biutiful and The Tree of Life need to be featured in the next one.
