that was until everything changed when Visonarry Horror Director James Wan Creator of the Saw film’s,  Introduced Audiences to 2013’s  The Conjuring a Based on a true story film, that Recounts the case files of Ed and Loraine Warren, the film would go on to become a modern day Horror blockbuster.
Making a huge amount of money at the box office and bringing something fresh and different to at the time a dying genre. Since then the Conjuring was so successful it has spawned what is now referred to as The Conjuring universe. For those unfamiliar with this franchise or its film universe,

let me help explain the timeline of all these films. Starting off The Conjuring universe we are sort of going backward here, The latest Conjuring Universe film is actually the first of the franchise at least according to periodical Order,

So first we have Annabelle Creation,  then Annabelle, then  The Conjuring then  The Conjuring two and then Once The Nun comes out, that will be before Annabelle Creation. also the Crooked man. So right now that is where the timeline sits.

Now you know the order in which to watch the film’s so if you haven’t seen The Conjuring or The Conjuring Two, then I would highly recommend you check out both of these film’s before watching the latest in this already established franchise because although a prequel Annabelle Creation is a film made for The fan’s of The Conjuring and the film will be far less enjoyable and a lot more confusing.

~ Thought’s and Analysis
The latest Prequel and latest film in the Conjuring Universe are finally here, Once again but This time it’s back with a prequel to 2014’s Annabelle,  which was a critical failure and even had fans unhappy.
However, it did make a large sum of money at the box office and thus a second attempt and an overall much better prequel were born. That film in question is 2017’s Annabelle Creation.
The original film Annabelle was cliqued and filled with stupid ill timed jump scares and was a huge disappointment,
that ultimately felt like a cash grab. The Latest film which is helmed by Light’s out director David Sandberg is a much better film that has strong acting performances, great timing and pacing, and a simple but well-written story.
Not to mention extremely strong direction from Sandberg.
It’s great to see Sandberg back in the directors’ chair as he is becoming a very interesting horror director to watch, So What makes this film special? that’s actually not the correct question that should be asked the real question that should be asked is? What is the purpose of this film? To be honest,
this film is really just supposed to a setup to 2018’s The Nun, this film does its job well, but the great thing about Annabelle Creation is that Sandberg still manages to make a good solid horror film on top of the overall setup,
in fact, the film is so subtle in the way
it set’s up to the next spinoff film.  That if you don’t pay close attention you will miss it.
Something else worth noting is this is the second consecutive horror film that has both starred Lulu Wilson and are a lot better than the previous film in that franchise.

~ Pro’s and Con’s
let’s start with the Pros for this film this film has Strong direction from David Sandberg, Great acting with all the cast giving stellar performances especially Lulu Wilson. The visual effects and Timing and pacing of the film are great and the story is pretty well written and very interesting.
Now for my Cons for this film.
One thing I didn’t like about this film was some of the more annoying genre cliques I found in this film. also Some scenes in this film feel rushed even though the film has good pacing sometimes certain scene’s dragged on too long or not long enough.
Another thing I didn’t like about this film was a number of jump scares that take place in the first 30 minutes of the film. I understand not wanting to disappoint audiences
but what Annabelle creation suffer’s from is a lack of character development. Don’t get me wrong it’s a solid horror film in every aspect, however a very important part in making what is considered a good horror film, and making what is considered a great one is depending on what is the main focus of the film is. So is it the characters or the villain, the problem Annabelle Creation faces in this regard is that it can’t decide what is more prevalent, So character’s don’t get built up as much and it makes you care less about the human characters other than the protagonist which is also never established who the main character truly is in this film.

Overall Thoughts and Rating.
I saw Annabelle Creation with two good buddy”s of mine and This film honestly surprised me.

Overall, It was a good solid horror film, Now is it ground breaking or a completely original masterpiece?

No, but it’s an enjoyable and Nerve shaking horror film That was filled with great scares, made for a great time with good friends. I recommend any fans of the Both The Conjuring Universe or David Sandberg’s work to give this film a chance you won’t regret it and it”s definitely worth checking out in theatres.
